The Termite Pavement Project

An ongoing collaboration between science, art and Aboriginal cultural knowledge, facilitated by Dr Fiona Walsh. The pavements are clay surfaces of subterranean termite cities and play an essential role in desert ecologies.  Little is known about them in the scientific world. However for the desert Aboriginal people, they are part of complex dreaming stories and traditional food practices. The Termite Pavement Project recognises that cultural knowledge and art practices can make significant contributions to the greater understanding to this phenomena. Therefore, highlighting their importance as well as their vulnerabilities.
